PVAS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit in Edinburg, TX and has the only full-service, open-admission, animal intake facility in Hidalgo County, serving more than 30,000 animals and 750,000 residents annually. PVAS is working to become a no-kill organization, defined as saving 90% or more of the animals that enter our care. We have already made great strides and adding another veterinarian to our team is critical to our success.
Our mission is to provide life-saving care, comfort, and compassion to animals in need by engaging the hearts, hands and minds of our community. PVAS has numerous programs and partnerships designed to help pets in the shelter, in the community, and in homes.
The Staff Veterinarian works closely with the Lead Veterinarian, Shelter Manager, and Executive Director to oversee the health of the shelter populations. This position, with the Lead Veterinarian, works to provide surgical and medical care to the animals at two locations in the Rio Grande Valley. You will work with an amazing staff at PVAS and be hard-pressed to find a more caring and dedicated team. This job is for you if you are:
A licensed Veterinarian in good standing in the state of Texas, or have the ability to obtain a license with the Texas state veterinary board upon hire;
USDA Certification, or ability to get certified, for issuing health certificates;
Able to maintain clear communication with staff on all levels, including proven written and oral presentation skills;
Looking for professional flexibility and a satisfying work/life balance.
