The field professional services veterinarian is designed to support the technical needs of the sales regions, support veterinary customers, and engage with key opinions leaders within their geography. In doing so, this individual will interact with our customer base on a technical level, giving clinically relevant presentations at various venues local and national, and train sales representatives on the use of technical data during sales calls. They will work with the regional sales manager as strategic partners and leaders to ensure success of the region. The professional services veterinarian will also coach sales reps on technical selling and understanding practice needs. He/ She will also assist in preparation of presentations, identifying clinically relevant publications to be aware of, and serve in a technical capacity on across teams.
Participate in technical "ride-withs" and “in-services” with the sales force.
Serve as the region’s technical expert, evaluating regional and individual technical training needs of the representatives and coaching sales reps in technical selling skills
Prepare and deliver technical lectures on our product line and disease state to VMA’s and professional veterinary organizations.
Teach sales training classes to our sales representatives and distributor sales representatives.
Report back to headquarters on new trends and competitive intelligence in veterinary medicine.
Meet with key opinion leaders, students, and veterinary school faculty to discuss potential new business opportunities
Represent Merck AH at Veterinary Schools, Professional Veterinary Associations and Conferences
Execute responsibilities with a high degree of independence.
Assist Marketing Liaisons as needed with preparation of presentations and marketing communications
Execute on personal development plans
Location: Southern Louisiana or Southeast Texas
Education Minimum Requirement:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree
Required Experience and Skills:
3- years relevant work experience
Relevant experience includes any of the following:
Private practice; companion animal
Excellent presentation skills
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Competency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Must be able to work effectively with our customers and our sales force
Practical and industrial experience
Demonstrated self-motivation with a collaborative mindset
Ability to work independently
Ability to travel 70% of the time
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Experience with companion animal vaccines and parasiticides, and other advanced degrees.
Board Certification in a relevant veterinary specialty
