Come and join our amazing team in our state of the art, AAHA accredited hospital where you'll find everything you need to achieve the career you always hoped for and where you will be treated with respect and kindness.
We are an independent small animal and exotics practice based in beautiful Fort Worth, Texas and were looking to expand our team of small animal practitioners.
We strongly believe in providing a happy workplace where everyone feels supported and knows their work and home life balance is valued. We are family friendly and mega-flexible with our staff.
We are happy to support your interests and are really quite unique in the way we can tailor our practice to your individual needs; if you have a passion for inpatient care, dentals, or prefer surgery, we will make sure you have the caseload to reflect this.
Our directors have active roles within the practice and are passionate and motivated to keep a forward motion for our practice. Our purpose-built hospital has amazing facilities including a CT scanner, fluoroscopy, ultrasound and endoscopy, a surgical theater with laparoscopy and orthopedic equipment, and 3 advanced dental tables with digital dental radiography. We have an underwater treadmill and offer an in-house rehabilitation and pain management service providing laser therapy, acupuncture and physiotherapy for pain relief and muscle maintenance.
We are very keen to develop our team and believe in investing in their skills and development including support and funding for certificates and further qualifications.
Our full-time veterinarians work a 4-day week with a fixed day off, but we are happy to design a schedule to suit your needs. We have veterinarians that work both full and part time, so if you have other commitments or school hours to work around, then please call us for a chat about the options available. There are no overnights. Our weekend schedule is rotated so you can have every other weekend off.
We always make sure you get a proper lunch break, where you can enjoy a relaxing break without interruptions either in the practice or leaving the office. We have administrative time scheduled in the day for you to use to catch up on paperwork and make phone calls to clients.
We have regularly scheduled monthly DVM meetings to discuss cases and protocols.
Despite our continued growth which has taken us to a team of 32, we strive to maintain a working family environment where we all support one another. Every member of the team matters and your weekend plans and how your kids are getting on in school is just as important to us as your career development.
Our veterinary and support team members are talented, friendly, and highly supportive and we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive culture and working environment. We are passionate about the animal health industry.
Fundraising is important to the whole team; we pick a charity close to our hearts every year. This year we are raising much needed funds for Raquel's Wings for Cancer Support.

"As a new graduate veterinarian, I was very nervous to start my new job and move to a new city – 6 years on I’m so glad I did! Summerfields has been such a supportive environment, allowing me to grow and learn new techniques with somebody ‘having my back’ if I ever need it. Moving to North Texas has also been great. I love living in Fort Worth – it has all the benefits of a major city with some gorgeous countryside just a few minutes’ drive away!" – DVM – Team Member
